Domo arigato Kimberly San..

Kimberly King, yes that's her name to be exact, but we simply denote her as Kim. Who's she? A boss , a mentor, an office colleague plus a friend (not mentioning a wife and a mom!). 3 months has passed and her contributions shall be remembered....
  • A boss when: "Zakry has made great strides in 2007 in developing into a very good operational engineer. Over the second half of the year he began to understand and emphasize the importance of HSE and SQ at the base and offshore. He is engaging at the customers office and is good to offer technical solutions to problems raised. Zakry is giving of his time to the new engineers as well as the workshop team to help them understand not only our completion tools but the HMS processes that go along with our day to day activities. I look forward to Zakry continuing to grow as an operations engineer to support not only Malaysia but the SEA region as well. He will continue to make an excellent mentor for the engineers joining XXXX and I look forward to working with him in 2008. " - This is what she wrote for my 2007 PPR (Personal Performance Review)
  • A mentor when: when my motivation was way on the ground, she lift me up with her words and despite how badly my job went, she has never failed to offer her sumptuous support.."remember zakry, everyone makes mistakes..as long as you learned your lesson, you are on the right track..and if you're not, definitely something is wrong!"
  • An office colleague when: we exchanged TVseries and kept ourselves updated with latest downloadable episodes.."By the way, they have this new show on TV over here, “I Survived a Japanese Game Show”, it is hilarious, you guys should see if you can download it from the internet." (taken from her email sent from US)..
  • A friend when: she asked if i need a place to stay right after my house was broken in..tried her very best to get me on the plane back for raya (last day of puasa), when she just got to know that my offshore job was delayed (stranded in KK..managed to fly back on 1st day of raya)..approved my 1-week leave for holiday in NYC/LA (detour) after a month training in Texas Louisiana..haha

And this is what she wrote before leaving for US:

"It has been an extreme pleasure to work with all of you the past few years. I have had the pleasure to have known each of you since the time you hesitantly arrived into Miri and Labuan to start your first days with XXXX. I am sure the first few weeks were a bit over whelming for some of you but you have all persevered and have come into your own. I hope that each of you will continue through the training program and keep your end goals in sight.
Just a few things I would like to pass along before I leave –

  • Do not loose faith in your career progression; remember if you don’t say anything nobody will know what you want to do. It is up to you do decide your career path and up to your manager to make it happen. Keep asking, if you don’t get an answer right away ask again and use your PPR as an avenue.
  • The grass is not always greener on the other side. If you get offers from another company, please take time to think why you are really leaving XXXX because things are not always better because of money. I worked for ZZZZ before joining XXXX and I can tell you honestly that XXXX will treat you right and give you every opportunity in the world to better your career. Please if you are thinking of leaving talk to someone before you make that choice.
  • Don’t plan your life around customer’s projects – there will always be projects but you only have 1 life to live.
  • Enjoy yourself and have fun…remember this is just a job and you must make it fun! "

YES MAM !! THANK YOU MAM !! and remember Zach, the grass is not always greener on the other side =P indeed, i'm lucky..
